Black Contour

Simple beauty of form is denied with black touches, only to be re-asserted with more inevitable presence in the work. Covering surfaces with black lines only brings more undeniable life into the painting through reflection. Although each mark I create is intended for the neutrality, it only makes the denial and assertion more explicit. Its effort is crippling. This hindrance and frustration of the process of denial and assertion is presented not as an image but as an object with real presence.
